Cymbalta Receives European Approval For The Treatment Of Generalised Anxiety Disorder

�Eli Lilly and Co (NYSE:
LLY) and Boehringer Ingelheim experience announced that the European Commission
has approved the use of Cymbalta(R) (duloxetine) for the treatment of
Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). This blessing -- the fourth for
duloxetine in Europe -- was issued on 28 July following an initial positive
opinion issued by the European Medicines Agency's (EMEA) Committee for
Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) on 26 June 2008.



The approval is based upon the results of five-spot clinical studies of GAD
-- iV double-blind short-run (acute) placebo-controlled studies and a
placebo-controlled relapse bar study -- involving more than 2,000
non-depressed adults with GAD. In each of the four-spot acute placebo-controlled
studies safety and efficaciousness were assessed. Duloxetine significantly
improved core anxiety symptoms (as metrical by the Hamilton Anxiety Scale)
compared with placebo (p less than or equal to 0.001, p=0.02, p=0.007, p
less than or equal to 0.001 respectively)(1,2,3,4) and patients
demonstrated improvement in role operation, including power to perform
everyday activities in act, home and in social situations.(5,6) In
addition, duloxetine significantly decreased the likelihood of relapse in

million Europeans(8,9) and sestet million people in Central and South America
ar estimated to suffer from GAD(10), which is characterised by undue
anxiety and worry about a number of events and activities (such as
performance at work or school) over a free burning period of at least six
months.(11)



This regulatory blessing paves the way for launches in Europe and
applies to all 27 countries of the European Union, as well as Norway,
Iceland, and Liechtenstein.



Cymbalta(R), a member of a socio-economic class of drugs commonly referred to as
serotonin and noradrenaline re-uptake inhibitors,(12) is already approved by
the EMEA to care for major depressive disorder and diabetic peripheral
neuropathic pain in the neck. Duloxetine gained marketing authorization for the
treatment of GAD in Mexico in 2006 and in the United States in 2007.

About Generalised Anxiety Disorder



Approximately nine 1000000 Europeans(8,9) and six meg people in
Central and South America are estimated to endure from GAD.(10) Quality of

NYFF well stocked with Cannes titles

'Changeling,' 'The Class' among festival entries





NEW YORK -- The North American premieres of Clint Eastwood's "Changeling," Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" and a host of Festival de Cannes titles from Steven Soderbergh and other auteurs highlight the lineup of the 46th New York Film Festival.

The Centerpiece spot for "Changeling," from Universal/ Imagine, bolsters the Angelina Jolie-toplined Cannes incoming as a prime Oscar contender, as does the closing-night time slot for "Wrestler," with both prestige positions closely watched in the awards race.

Seventeen of the fest's 28 titles appeared at Cannes in May, including Soderbergh's four-hour-plus Spanish-language biopic "Che," and 20 are foreign-language features.

The NYFF runs Sept. 26-Oct. 12.

IFC Films has the most titles on the NYFF slate with four-spot: the Cannes Camera d'Or and FIPRESCI Critics Prize-winning "Hunger," the Grand Prix winner "Gomorra," "A Christmas Tale" and "Summer Hours." Sony Pictures Classics has three: the NYFF opening night film and Palme d'Or winner "The Class," Wong Kar Wai's "Ashes of Time Redux" and Ari Folman's "Waltz With Bashir."

Both distributors likely volition be on the hunt for more acquisitions following each company's record routine of Cannes buys, fueled by the large IFC In Theaters and newfangled IFC direct-to-VOD Festival Direct slates and SPC's 16-22 annual release slots to fill.

New distributor Oscilloscope Pictures is represented with the Cannes title "Wendy and Lucy," starring Michelle Williams, and Miramax has Mike Leigh's "Happy-Go-Lucky." A restored mark of Max Ophuls' last film, "Lola Montes" (Rialto Pictures), will be featured as the festival's glare retrospective film.

NYFF selection committee chairperson Richard Pena noted this year's with child crop of politically supercharged films and a wider number of countries delineate among both the slating (including deuce from Kazakhstan) and the 2,000-odd submissions. He attributes a recent uptick in submissions to the larger numeral of digitally filmed features.

"We're finding a lot of the most interesting work tends to make a statement," said Pena, citing a trend in stark contrast to the recent boxoffice downturn for issue-oriented indies.

"Class," "Changeling" and "Wrestler" will screen at the Ziegfeld Theatre throughout the festival. Most screenings at the Film Society of Lincoln Center event volition be held at the Walter Reade Theater.

Corrie star named Celeb Mum of the Year

'Coronation Street' star Kym Ryder has been named Celebrity Mum of the Year by Tesco Magazine.
The 31-year-old actress, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor in the soap, has two children, 12-year-old David and 10-year-old Emily.
The actress was reportedly chosen as Celebrity Mum of the Year because of her ability to balance her acting and charity work with her family life.
Ryder said: "I'm shocked and thrilled to have won this award from Tesco Magazine. And I feel humbled to have won alongside such amazing mums, whose stories are truly incredible."
"I'll be bringing lots of tissues to the awards ceremony as I know it will be a really emotional and inspiring day."

Bobby Brown - Bobby Browns Son Exposes Houston As Poor Stepmother


BOBBY BROWN's son LANDON has revealed his former stepmother, WHITNEY HOUSTON, treated him like an employee when he went to stay with the former couple.

Landon Brown says Houston was a "nightmare" to grow up with, refusing to accept him as a member of her family.

He tells the National Enquirer that his former stepmum insisted he slept in a guest house when he came to stay - and refused to let him spend time with her daughter - his half-sister - Bobbi Kristina.

He says, "Whitney and I never really got along. She didn't necessarily hate me, but she wouldn't really speak to me either. In Whitney's eyes, I was the stepchild."

He adds, "She decided to turn me into one of her security personnel. I was a teenager but I was walking around dressed up in all black with a Security shirt and she'd have me work for her. I was just another one of her staff."

Canadian masters of metallic hard-core, Ion Dissonance combine precise stop-on-a-dime drumming and a phrenetic, hefty guitar attack with songs that assault with the force of a pestiferous thermonuclear device to create something young and operose on the alloy scene. Ion Dissonance were formed in Montreal, Quebec in mid-2002 by guitarists Sebastien Chaput and Antoine Lussier and drummer J.F. Richard, alloy fans interested in pickings the music to modern sonic extremes. Teaming with vocalizer Gabriel McCaughry and bassist Sebastien Painchaud, Ion Dissonance recorded their first demonstration in the fall of 2002, and it was released to fans under the title .357 by the end of the year. The demonstration EP earned the set positive press care and Ion Dissonance began sharing stages with the likes of the Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die and the Black Dahlia Murder. Pennsylvania-based metal label Willowtip Records released Ion Dissonance's debut album, External respiration Is Irrelevant, in the fall of 2003, with an American turn following early in 2004. In early 2005, Xavier St. Laurent took over on bass, and the band continued their punishing route agenda, pickings a break in May to begin exercise on their mo album, Solace, which would be released by Abacus Recordings in September 2005.
